The Revival of 20th Century Writing
Calligraphy, Publication
The Revival of 20th Century Writing is a 70-page book. It focuses on five extremely influential Western calligraphers going in chronological order with an introduction that starts with Edward Johnston who revived what seemed to be a lost art. Other featured calligraphers include Rudolf Koch, Irene Wellington, Hermann Zapf, Donald Jackson, and Raphael Boguslav. As the book progresses, the reader is able to see the development and modernization of calligraphy, ending with Boguslav who used calligraphy in commercial design. The progression was a way for me to bring the book back and relate it to my studies at Drexel University.
